tL's phOTOGRAPH_oF_tHE_dAY #1213 - Providing the widest possible view of the Grand Canyon, the Desert View Watchtower harmonizes with its setting. Hired by the Fred Harvey Company, architect Mary Coulter built this rest area in 1930 on the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Each stone was handpicked for size and appearance and the silhouette, from a distance, looks like a Anasazi lookout.
