TEDD LiGGETT’s phOTOGRAPH_oF_tHE_dAY #1065 \ LONG bOAT

tL's phOTOGRAPH_oF_tHE_dAY #1065 - south bound Flat Boat passing West Point. In the spring of 1806 Thomas Lincoln, the father or Abraham, took a flatboat loaded with produce from West Point Kentucky (est. 1789), at the confluence of the Ohio & Salt Rivers, to New Orleans Louisiana. The trip of over 700 miles required about 60 days. This was a profitable river journey and enabled Thomas to make final plans for his marriage to Nancy Hanks in June of that year.
