TEDD LiGGETT’s phOTOGRAPH_oF_tHE_dAY #1459 \ wHALE'S mOUTH

tL's phOTOGRAPH_oF_tHE_dAY #1459 - This sheetlike deposit of calcite, located in Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico, U.S.A., was formed by the most common of all cave deposits - flowstone - a mass that's turned into layers fluted with ‘draperies’. Whale’s Mouth is cast by a slow process of flowing water, which becomes rounder as the area gets thicker.
