tL's phOTOGRAPH_oF_tHE_dAY #717 - Spanish Moss is from the bromeliad family and is not related to mosses or lichens. It grows from the southeastern United States to Argentina, wherever the climate is warm enough with a high level of humidity. Growing here on live oak and sweet gum trees it shelters a number of creatures, notably chiggers & red bugs.
