tL's phOTOGRAPH_oF_tHE_dAY #1954 - Blue Spring is the largest on the St. Johns River and serves as the winter home of Florida manatees that meander to the spring and bask in the warm waters (a constant 72 Fahrenheit/21 Celsius). The area of Blue Spring was acquired by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection in 1972 to kick-start its Manatee Protection Program.
